Birth & Postnatal Workshop
Pregnancy, birth, and becoming a new parent can seem like an overwhelming journey into the unknown.
Do you know what to expect from labour and birth? Are you clear about your rights and choices? Are you worried about caring for a newborn baby? Maybe you want to breastfeed but aren't sure about latch and attachment.
It doesn't have to be a time of anxiety and fear. With some preparation and support, you can approach this transitional period with excitement and joy. With Kirstie's qualifications as a life coach, doula, trauma rewind practitioner and qualified counsellor, she creates a fully holistic and bespoke workshop.

During this comprehensive workshop, we'll cover everything included in The Essex Birth Company's Birth Preparation Workshop and Postnatal Planning Workshop, plus additional content to support your journey.
By the end of our time together, you'll feel confident about your pregnancy, knowledgeable about labour and birth, and excited about the postnatal period ahead. Kirstie is also an experienced infant feeding peer supporter, which can be a real help during this stage too.
Join us for this extensive workshop, and empower yourself for a positive, informed experience during this special time.
“ I highly recommend Kirstie to anyone wanting to feel safe, empowered and excited about their birth experience. ”

Further discussion topics
In addition to the content from the individual Birth Preparation Workshop (please take a look at this pages), this comprehensive package also includes:
Antenatal preparation: Antenatal expression of colostrum, understanding your birth rights and obstetric risk, and the Bishop's score and what a 'favourable' cervix means for labour progression.
Induction and interventions: Induction methods and how to make informed decisions, assisted delivery and caesarean birth choices, and the factors that can increase the likelihood of a medical or caesarean birth, and how to reduce these where possible.
Birth partners: Equipping your birth partner with the knowledge and strategies to support you through labour, birth and the postnatal period.
The early postnatal period: The 'first forty days' and traditional postnatal practices, alongside practical guidance on new born nappies, sleep, and general baby care, including bathing, cord care, tummy time and recognising signs of wellness or concerns, such as jaundice.
Feeding: Breastfeeding, formula and responsive feeding, expressing and safely storing breast milk, and recognising your baby's hunger cues.
Your postnatal wellbeing: Postnatal depression, trauma and mental health, pelvic floor rehabilitation and postnatal yoga, and why self care is a non-negotiable, not a luxury, during this stage.
