Do you know the options available to you, and the decisions you might still need to make? A caesarean birth can feel very medical, but there is still so much you can do to shape the experience, from the small details to the bigger choices, to make it feel calm, personal and truly yours.

Our caesarean preparation workshops cover all of this and more, including the postnatal period, so you can walk into your birth feeling informed, confident and prepared, whatever your reasons for a caesarean.

Understanding your options: Explore the reasons for your caesarean, any alternatives if you're unsure, and your right to choose your preferred birth type, even where this falls outside NHS guidelines.


The theatre environment: What to expect on the day, including the stages of a caesarean birth, the roles of the medical team, and how to promote a calm, positive experience throughout.


Coping strategies: Aromatherapy, massage, breathing techniques, affirmations, guided relaxation and music, practical tools to help you feel calm, grounded and in control.


Emotional support: Techniques to work through any difficult feelings about a medical birth, drawing on trauma and counselling training to support you.


Hormones and bonding: How birth hormones affect bonding, relaxation and milk production, and simple ways to support these during and after your caesarean.


Birth partner preparation: How your birth partner can be involved and support you, during the birth and in the postnatal period that follows.


Postnatal recovery: Practical guidance for recovery immediately after birth, both in hospital and once you're home.


Navigating the system: Confidence and clarity in advocating for the birth you want, within your unique circumstances.


You'll also receive a comprehensive 70 page guide created by The Essex Birth Company, to work through together in our sessions and refer back to whenever you need it, leaving you feeling confident, knowledgeable and prepared for your caesarean birth.

Workshop Details


Sessions can be facilitated via Zoom, in your home or in my home overlooking the Essex countryside.


Sessions approx. 2 x 2 hour £250 for birthing person and birth partner/s.
