Home Birth Workshop

Are you ready for a home birth? Feeling anxious about being away from a hospital setting?

Have you written an informed birth plan and considered your options if a transfer to the hospital becomes necessary?

Are you aware of your rights and the decisions you might need to make during the birth process?

Would you like to understand the stages of labour, how to support yourself, and what will happen to your body and baby during birth?

These are just a few of the topics we cover in our home birth preparation workshops, but there's so much more to learn! Join us to gain the confidence and knowledge for a positive home birth experience.

You will work through a complimentary 90 page guide created by Kirstie. You can ask any questions that have been playing on your mind.

You'll leave feeling confident, knowledgeable and prepared for a positive home birth experience.

Discussion Topics

Safety, risk and your rights: The evidence behind home birth, how to assess obstetric risk holistically, and your right to choose a home birth, including outside NHS guidelines or if you've been labelled 'high risk'. Personalised care and support plans.

Navigating the maternity system: Practical guidance on communicating your choices and getting the personalised support you need from your care providers.

Coping mechanisms: TENS, aromatherapy, massage, breathing exercises, water immersion, affirmations, gas and air, partner support and maintaining energy through labour.

Birth hormones and upright birthing: How hormones like oxytocin support labour, and the benefits of upright positions, movement and gravity in helping birth progress.

Stages of labour and foetal positioning: What to expect at each stage, the biomechanics of birth, and how optimal foetal positioning can support a smoother labour.

Hospital transfers: The statistics and situations behind transfer, what to consider, and when a transfer may or may not be necessary.

Preparing your home and your people: Practical tips for setting up your space, from birth pools and birth balls to boosting oxytocin, plus how to prepare your birth partner, other children and pets who may be present.

You'll also receive a comprehensive guide created by The Essex Birth Company, to work through together in our sessions and refer back to whenever you need it, leaving you feeling confident, knowledgeable and fully prepared for your home birth.
