VBAC Workshop

Are you feeling ready for a vaginal birth after caesarean? Do you understand how this experience might differ from a vaginal birth without a previous caesarean?

Have you created a VBAC informed birth plan? Are you aware of your rights, and the choices and decisions you may need to make along the way?

Would you like to understand the stages of labour, effective coping strategies for each one, and what to expect for both your body and your baby throughout the birth?

These are just a few of the things we explore in The Essex Birth Company's VBAC Preparation Workshops, and there's so much more we cover together.

Discussion Topics

Your rights and options: Understand VBAC, HBAC and your choice of birth place, alongside the NHS's Personalised Care and Support Plans and how to build a supportive care team tailored to you.

Safety and research: The latest evidence, safety statistics and risks, including uterine rupture and continuous monitoring, so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

Emotional wellbeing: Space to explore your feelings around VBAC and reflect on your previous birth, supported by Kirstie's background as a perinatal counsellor, trauma therapist and life coach.

Coping mechanisms: TENS, aromatherapy, massage, breathing techniques, water therapy, affirmations, medical pain relief and ways to increase oxytocin, plus what to avoid for a VBAC birth.

Birth hormones and biomechanics: How to naturally support the hormones involved in labour, and how optimal foetal positioning can help things progress more smoothly.

Stages of labour: What to expect at each stage, and how to promote a positive, productive birth experience throughout.

Birth partner preparation: Equip your birth partner with the knowledge and tools to be actively involved and genuinely supportive.

Contingency planning: How to prepare for changes of plan and make informed decisions, whatever direction your birth takes.

We'll also cover everything from The Essex Birth Company's standard Birth Preparation Workshop, and work through your personalised birth preparation manual together, addressing any questions along the way. You'll leave feeling powerful, knowledgeable and prepared for a positive birth experience.
